WINWIN

An early online racing prototype built to answer one question: can I make real multiplayer actually work? Built solo over more than a month with Photon — real-time player synchronization, a room system, room search/matchmaking, plus car selection and car paint customization.

Overview

WINWIN was a solo project built over more than a month, during an earlier stage of my development journey, with one clear goal: get real online multiplayer working end-to-end. Alongside the networking, it also includes supporting systems like car selection and car paint customization.

Using Photon, players can create or search for a race room and play together with 3-4 players synchronized in real time within the same session.

What I took away from this project

This was one of my earliest deep dives into networked multiplayer, and it taught me just how different building for several simultaneous players is from single-player development. Working solo with Photon for over a month, I had to think in terms of keeping player state in sync in real time and managing the full room lifecycle — creation, search, joining, disconnection — on top of supporting systems like car selection and customization. It's an early project, but it's where I first learned to reason about networked systems, and that foundation has stuck with me since.
